Just because it’s healthy, doesn’t mean you can’t gain weight from it. A lot of people who are trying to lose weight (and even those who aren’t) tend to forget that healthy foods have calories. While macronutrients do have an impact on the KIND of weight lost.. it comes down to calories in versus calories out as far as weight gain/loss goes.

Vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy, oils, nut butters, beans and grains all can be very good for you… but they all also have calories! It’s easy to go overboard on these healthy foods. Measure your portions until you get good at eyeballing it! A LEVEL tablespoon (not heaping) of peanut butter is about 100 calories.. try measuring your next PB&J sandwich and you’ll see just how much OVER this amount you go. A large banana can have over 120 calories! Over the course of day, little additions can have a big impact on your total caloric intake. 

The key is moderation. Don’t cut out healthy foods just because they’re high in calories. Just learn what a proper portion size is and you’ll be fine =)
