WOW for some reason today I have been asked this a lot, so I’d like to share my answer for those of you who might be wondering/worry about the same thing…

A lot of girls have asked me if protein powder will make them gain weight……

The ONLY THING that can make you gain weight is eating more calories than your body needs to maintain itself. It doesn’t matter where those calories come from (candy, fruit, fish, protein powder, WHATEVER)… if you eat more than your body needs to maintain itself, you will gain weight.
Protein (no matter what form it comes in) helps maintain and rebuild lean muscle. More lean muscle = more “tone” and more calories burned JUST BY BEING ALIVE. Therefore, if anything, whey protein can help you LOSE fat, because with more muscle, you will naturally be burning more calories, doing absolutely nothing!!!!

Do not be afraid of protein powder. It is CRUCIAL to consume a protein shake after weight lifting to maximize lean muscle gains! Your body is in a state where it is CRAVING nutrients to replenish the muscle tissue you just damaged in the gym. The fast acting protein (such as whey) will help begin the reparative processes!
