My First Negative Rant on Tumblr.
Hmmm, for the first time, I actually got a negative response about fitness advice. I don’t post messages publicly, because I want people to feel comfortable asking questions… but this one was a gem. So I’ll share it without her name..
Question: “I am working out and stuff but I still have flab on my stomach, arms and legs. how do I get rid of it!?!?! help please!!”
My Response: You need to clean up your diet (check out the grocery list and meal plan I have posted for an example). Make sure you are incorporating both resistance and cardiovascular training at least 5-6 times a week. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep. Be patient, change takes time =)
Question: “Wow I looked at the food stuff and I can’t do all of that. I like pancakes and sugar to much. is there any other way I can get a body like yours? like if i exercise more or take a fat burner? thanks!”
I stopped responding.
This is what I wanted to say……………. NO. Actually I am offended and annoyed. If it were easy to get in shape, don’t you think EVERYONE would be in shape? If there was some magical pill or powder or food or exercise, don’t you think EVERYONE would be using it and in shape… it would be all over the news and there would be some very rich person out there who discovered this crap. But there is not. Sorry, you might actually have to put in a little effort to get what you want.
I worked extremely hard to get where I am…. I sacrifice my pancakes and sugar (which I have a massive sweet tooth by the way), I have skipped dates and plans with friends to go to the gym, I wake up an hour before the sun just to get my workouts in before work, I don’t buy new clothes so I will have money to buy supplements, vitamins and healthy food. I do what you are not willing to do… and because of that… I will have what you will not have.
Lesson to take from this…. trying to find shortcuts and cheats in life will get you nowhere. It makes you look weak and pathetic. I LOVE seeing all of the wonderful, positive, hard-working girls who post on my tumblr! They inspire me so much… but it is the few girls on here like this one, who put a very sour taste in my mouth. So ladies, keep up your hard work, your positivity and your discipline and you will go far not just in fitness, but in life as well. Do not look for the shortcuts in life. They are for the feeble minded, the lazy and the under-achievers. Continue to be positive and work hard. That way when you finally achieve your goals, you can look back and be PROUD of what you accomplished, instead of feeling guilty or bad about what you had to do to get there.
